PMPN Medical Meeting Manager Certificate FAQs
After careful consideration, Professional Meeting Planners Network has launched a rigorous Continuing Medical Education (CME) certificate program for those managers who deliver medical education meetings. Why a Continuing Medical Education (CME) certificate program?
Heavy scrutiny by various government agencies and the media makes it imperative that physician education programs comply with all laws, regulations, and guidelines. In fact, compliance is the minimum expectation. Sponsoring organizations expect and deserve medical education that is both effective and beyond reproach.
To help assure on-going and successful compliance, providers and sponsors require that well-trained third parties play an increased role when at events involving physicians. In addition to compliance assurance, these programs build more credibility with physicians, regulators, and the media.
An Ethical Imperative
The pharmaceutical industry and the medical education community face an ethical imperative to respond to its critics and to those charged with its regulation. PMPN is serious about being the leader in delivering ethical, professional, continuing educational meetings to physicians, pharmaceuticals, and other healthcare providers.
PMPN’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) testing/certificate initiative is a major step forward in addressing critically important aspect of physician education.
The Approach
PMPN’s professional network planners will serve as a beta test group during the development phase. We will work closely with those responsible for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Certification for Meeting Management (CMM) certification, as well as organizations such as the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education (ACME) to address all of the issues jointly related to meeting planning and continuing medical education. We plan to exempt those holding a current CMM or CMP designation from those portions of the exam that relate to generic meeting management topics.
